Three hundred and sixty children from 32 Camberley Guides, Brownies and Rainbows units enjoyed an event to commemorate the Queen’s 90th Birthday at The Basingstoke Canal Centre in Mytchett over the weekend. Seventy adults helped and supervised the event

The Guides set up tents on Friday evening and slept overnight. On Saturday they were joined by Brownies and Rainbows for a day of fun that included, Shooting Stars Circus Skills, Bouncy Castle, a woodland treasure hunt and buddy challenge, parachute games, hula hoops, egg and spoon and sack races as well as craft making in one of the marquees.

The event was attended by The Deputy Mayor of Surrey Heath, Councillor Valerie White, who cut the large birthday cake after everyone had enjoyed a massive street party at fully decorated tables lined up on the grass. A couple of showers around party time did not dampen spirits. After the Tea Party the Rainbows went home.

Following a short campfire sing-song the Brownies went home leaving the Guides to stay overnight for events on the Sunday morning.
