Man jailed for sexual assault on woman in West Byfleet
A 57 year-old man from Hertfordshire has been jailed for 3 years and 6 months for sexually assaulting a woman in her 40s on 18 July 2015 in West Byfleet.
Michael Tamayo from Stevenage in Hertfordshire was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday 9 February after pleading guilty to one count of sexual assault by penetration.
He was also given a restraining order for 10 years preventing him from contacting the victim in any shape or form.
Detective Sergeant Emily Clarke from West Surrey Criminal Investigation Department, said: “The victim was clearly deeply traumatised as a result of this incident and it has taken a huge toll on her life, I hope that this sentence will allow for her to recover from this experience.”
“We take all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and urge anybody who has been subject to sexual abuse or assault to report it as soon as possible where specialist officers will investigate sensitively and thoroughly.”
