Surrey Heath residents and business owners had the opportunity to quiz Surrey Heath Borough Council officers and councillors this week in the third #TalkSurreyHeath online Q&A session.

The subject of the live streamed event was SHBC’s Annual Plan for 2017-18, focusing on the Council’s key priorities.

In the Annual Plan, these priorities are grouped under four themes: Place, Prosperity, People and Performance.

The panel for the event consisted of Leader of the Council, Cllr Moira Gibson, SHBC Chief Executive Karen Whelan, Deputy Leader Cllr Richard Brooks, Surrey Heath Executive Head of Corporate Richard Payne, and Cllr Colin Dougan, Portfolio Holder for Transformation.

They answered questions on a wide range of subjects including the regeneration of Camberley, support for businesses in the borough, the Council-supported Green Waste Club scheme, the future of Heritage Services in Surrey Heath, and playground facilities.

During the event, which was broadcast via Facebook Live from the Council Chamber at Surrey Heath House on March 28, members of the public could follow the live video stream on the SHBC Facebook page (www.facebook.com/SurreyHeath). The video of the hour long session is now available to view on this page.

Before and during the event, questions were submitted via Facebook, Twitter, or email on [email protected]

The Council is organising these innovative online events to encourage as many residents, business owners and interested parties to have their say on issues that are important to them.

Cllr Gibson said: “This was another successful #TalkSurreyHeath event, with good engagement from the public on crucial matters for the Council and the community.

“Thanks to everyone who tuned in – our next #TalkSurreyHeath event is planned for the summer, when the topic will be based around sport and leisure.”
