Stars in the community rewarded
Leader of the Council, Cllr Paul Spooner, says: “The Mayor’s Award for Service to the Community recognises and encourages positive community working, and celebrates those who make a real difference by giving their time in volunteer roles throughout the borough”.
Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Gordon Jackson, presented the awards on Saturday 22 April at the County Club, the sponsors of the award.
The Mayor comments: “Everyone receiving an award has been nominated by local people whose lives have been touched by their kindness, generosity of spirit and endless enthusiasm. I am delighted to recognise the tremendous contribution that they have made within the local community.”
The nominees are from all corners of the borough. Bellfields, East Clandon, East Horsley, West Horsley, Park Barn, Pirbright, Ripley, Send, Tongham, Wood Street Village and Worplesdon are some of the communities that have benefited from the dedication of the volunteers.
