Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault at The Crown and Anchor Pub in Old Woking on Easter Sunday (Sunday 16 April) which left a man with a facial injury that required major surgery.

The incident happened in the smoking area of the pub between 11pm and 11.45pm. It is reported that the victim was enjoying a drink with some friends when he was punched to the face by an unknown man.

Detective Constable Tina Stewartson from West Surrey Criminal Investigation Department, said: “This was a violent and seemingly unprovoked attack which has caused the victim life changing injuries.

“The force of the punch damaged a nerve in the victim’s face and he had to undergo surgery to correct the nerve plus was fitted with three plates to his face.”

“This happened on a busy night with numerous people enjoying the disco held at the pub and I believe there would have been a number of people who witnessed the attack who could assist our investigation.”
