Surrey Police is currently in attendance at an address in Cranleigh following a report of a concern for safety earlier this afternoon (24 May).

Armed officers are part of the police response to the incident, which was reported at an address in Elmbridge Road just before midday.

The property has been contained and there is not believed to be any risk to the wider public. Negotiations remain ongoing to resolve the situation.

For the avoidance of doubt this incident is not linked to any terrorist-related activities.

Occupants from five neighbouring properties have been evacuated from their homes and the road is currently closed.

Surrey Police is aware that this incident will have a significant impact on the local community. We apologise for any disruption caused and ask neighbouring residents to be patient whilst we continue to resolve the situation.
