Over 8,000 people flocked to Frimley Lodge Park to enjoy the 10th Surrey Heath Show on Saturday.

The Show featured long-standing favourites such as the Companion Dog Show and Classic Car Show, arena events and heaps of children’s activities.

Newly-appointed Mayor of Surrey Heath Cllr Valerie White attended the Show and enjoyed the fantastic fun on offer. She even had time for a quick photo with Surrey Heath Show mascot Spike The Hedgehog!

The Mayor also judged the Classic Car Competition and presented winner, Keith Pinnick, with a certificate and prize. Keith is the proud owner of the winning vehicle, a pristine Vauxhall Cresta 1962.

Radio Frimley Park guided the main arena though a variety of performances from local groups. Health and fitness was a popular theme throughout the day with the Arena Leisure Centre hosting both a Zumba and Power Yoga session, while Camberley Judo Club and Precision Martial Arts offered some impressive displays in their disciplines.

Camberley Theatre’s youth group, Creative Minds Academy, organised some brilliant party games, and there was also a tremendous performance from Sandhurst and District Corps of Drums.

The Companion Dog Show was managed by Harper Asprey Wildlife and Next Chapter Animal Rescue. Dog Show sponsor Kay9 Services awarded rosettes for a variety of categories for both pedigree and novelty classes.

There were plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained with fairground rides, zorbing, inflatables, the miniature railway and a number of fun Punch and Judy performances.

A wide range of stalls kept visitors happy including food and drink, fairground games, local businesses, community groups and charities.

Surrey Heath Borough Council’s mascot Heath The Hare was there helping Camberley Theatre promote some of the great events that they’ve got coming up.

Music was provided throughout the day by the Farnborough Concert Band of the Royal British Legion.

Each year the Surrey Heath Show distributes some of its proceeds to local charities and community groups.  Last year alone over £10,000 was donated to 22 local organisations to help fund some of their projects.

Each year the Show is organised by Surrey Heath volunteers, together with officers from Surrey Heath Borough Council and Voluntary Support North Surrey.

This year the show celebrated its 10th anniversary - a huge achievement.

Anthony Moore, Chairman of the Surrey Heath Show Committee said: “It’s hard to believe that we are celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Surrey Heath Show. We started it off in 2008 as a one-off fundraising event for the Mayor’s Charity Appeal. It was so successful that we felt obliged to repeat it the next year and have been doing so ever since!”

This year, the Show was sponsored by The Best Print, Camberley Audi Fleet Department, The Massage Company, Arena Leisure Centre and Jamaisons.
