Enforcement Action in Bagshot
Date:
Surrey Heath Borough Council has served an enforcement notice seeking to prevent the unauthorised tipping of waste material and siting of c.45 mobile homes on land off Swift Lane, Bagshot. An appeal has been lodged against the enforcement notice.
The Enforcement notice is part of an ongoing action by the Council in respect of unauthorised activity on the land. The Council takes all breaches of planning control seriously and the welfare of local residents is a key concern. The action is being undertaken with the support of Surrey County Council and Surrey Police.
On Thursday 8th June Planning and Environmental Health Officers from Surrey Heath Borough Council, accompanied by Surrey Police, visited the site in order to continue to monitor activity.
Following a visual inspection of the material tipped on site, the Council with support from Surrey Police has issued a letter to residents and businesses on and adjacent to the site.
We are currently investigating whether the waste being deposited includes any hazardous material which may be harmful to health. Whilst we are carrying out these investigations and as a precautionary measure, we have suggested that residents, particularly children, stay away from the waste and that windows are kept closed.
The landowner has been contacted and The Environment Agency, Health and Safety Executive and Surrey County Council have been advised.
