Man arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure on footpath in Ewell
Surrey Police has arrested a man following a report of an indecent exposure in Ewell at around 16:10 on Friday 16 June.
Two teenage girls were walking along the path from Station Avenue towards Meadow Walk when they were passed by a man who had emerged from some bushes. When the girls arrived at the tunnel that links the path to Kingston Road, the same man appeared from the tunnel and exposed himself to them.
A 40-year-old man from Epsom has been arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure, and further arrested on suspicion of attempted rape following a separate incident at the same location on 24 May 2017.
He has been released from police custody but remains under investigation.
Inspector Jackie Elkins, Neighbourhood Inspector for Epsom and Ewell said:
“Indecent exposure is a serious offence, but it is also an offence that, for whatever reason, may not always be reported. I want anyone who has been a victim of indecent exposure to know that we do take it seriously, we do investigate, we do make arrests when we can and we do offer support.
Iād urge anyone who has been subjected to this sort of behaviour to make contact with Police immediately.”
Anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45170063898.
