Can you help detectives investigating a Merrow burglary?
Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a home in Merrow, near Guildford, on Thursday, 22 June.
It is reported that at around 1.15 pm, an intruder smashed a rear patio door to gain entry to a property on Merrow Lane. A search of the house was carried out and a quantity of cash and jewellery was taken.
A man was then disturbed in the garden of the house, and was seen to run towards the business park behind, towards the Surrey County Council Depot. There he was seen to get into a Black Vauxhall Antara, and drive at speed onto Merrow Lane towards Park Lane.
The man is described as a white, aged 17 to 18 years old, and of a slim build. He was wearing a grey zip up hooded top, dark trousers and a dark coloured baseball cap.
Detective Constable, Richard Pegden, investigating officer, said: “I am appealing to the public to help me find the man responsible for this crime. I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this man acting suspiciously around or near the entrance to the business park between 1pm and 1.15 pm on Thursday, 22 June.
“The area would have been busy with staff from the business park on their lunch breaks. In particular, there may have been witnesses to the vehicle driving at speed in the Park Lane or A25 area, at that time.”
DC Pegden added “Any information you have could help us establish the events that afternoon. I must commend the quick actions of the occupant of the house, in reporting this matter to the police so quickly.”
