Statement regarding the PSPO draft order
Date:
The wording of the draft Public Space Protection Order may have been unclear. To clarify, dogs are not permitted within restricted areas - specifically this relates to: all children’s playgrounds, and a particular area within Lightwater Country Park at certain times of the year (due to nesting birds). This is publicised locally at the location to identify when this applies.
All other public greenspace and park areas allow dogs to be off leads, but in areas covered by the PSPO, at the request of an authorised person the owner/walker is required to place a dog on a lead and take full responsibility of the dogs within their control by clearing up any dog faeces left by placing in a bag, depositing in a bin or taking it home. Apologies for any confusion regarding this.
We hope this clarification means the reason for the petition referred to is no longer relevant.
More generally, the current draft PSPO has been based on the results of the public consultation that took place in late 2016. We welcome feedback from all sectors of the community about the draft Order, and will take these views into consideration when finalising the Order.
Details of the draft Order can be found at www.surreyheath.gov.uk/pspo and feedback can be emailed to [email protected].

I read in dismay at what is deemed as another round of unnecessary time wasted by the Council on its PSPO. Logic says, dogs must be kept on lead in built up areas, where child play is taking place, along busy traffic areas. A strict fine on owners not cleaning up dog faeces and anyone seeing this taking place should take note and inform the Council. Not only this, I have spent today picking up plastic milk bottles, water bottles, McDonald bag and content, 3 plastic bags and I could go on!! Again keep Deepcut Village clear of rubbish and anyone caught should pay a hefty fine and do litter clearing community time. It surely doesn’t need those in the Council to waste time in writing such a clear understanding of a very logic PSPO it’s not rocket science!!!!

Some people completely ignore the no dog signs at children play parks, what can be done by us if anything, can they be reported with evidence for a warning letter or prosecution?,
