Have your say: Bagshot Road Improvements Consultation
Heavy traffic at peak times along Bagshot Road in the Brookwood and Knaphill area has long been a problem and brought frustration to local road users and commuters.
In partnership with Surrey County Council, the highways authority, Woking Borough Council has indentified seven junctions in the area where improvements to traffic flows and vehicle journey times could be made.
The Council is keen to hear from residents, businesess and road users in the area with their views on the proposed enhancements. From today (Tuesday 11 July 2017) there will be an online consultation available for people to contribute their views. Diagrams showing the proposed enhancements to each junction will accompany the consultation.
Cllr Colin Kemp, Deputy Leader of Woking Borough Counci, said: ‘I have used Bagshot Road for many years and, whilst we embrace development and the much needed economic benefits it brings to the Borough, it can create pressure on roads and increase localised pollution. Slow moving traffic along the A322 through Knaphill and Brookwood is a burgeoming issue, so I welcome the possible enhancements. The highways engineers have identified seven possible schemes either on the A322 or adjacent to it, but we need local residents and businesses who know this area to get involved and tell us what they think of our ideas and more importantly, will they work?”
The Council is also hosting two public drop-in events where people can discuss the proposals with the highway engineers. No booking required.
The drop-in events will be held at The Vine Centre for the Community, Broadway, Knaphill, Woking GU21 2SP:
- Thursday 20 July - 4pm to 7pm
- Saturday 22 July - 10am to 12.30pm
The online consultation can be viewed by visiting www.woking.gov.uk/bagshotroad. Paper versions are available upon request, please call 01473 755855.
