Since last July we’ve issued 23 Criminal Behaviour Orders to deal with those who intimidate others. Here’s one more.
A 37-year-old woman who has been causing misery to the good people of Woking has now been banned from entering the town centre.
Lisa Marie Belmont from Farnham was issued with an Interim Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Guildford Magistrates Court this week (Tuesday 18 July) to curb her anti-social behaviour.
The court heard that Belmont was part of a group who would hang around Albion Square outside Woking railway station drinking, fighting and generally being abusive and intimidating to members of the public.
T/Sergeant James Wyatt said: “We won’t tolerate this sort of behaviour in Woking and Albion Square is an area we’ve been focusing on for a while. If you’re visiting Woking you shouldn’t have to experience abuse and drunkenness as you walk to and from the station. We already have a Dispersal Order in place around the location but we felt that a longer term solution was needed which is why we applied to the court for the Interim CBO.
“I hope this order demonstrates to residents, shoppers and traders alike that we will take action against those individuals who think it’s OK to come to our town and cause misery to others.”
Under the terms of the Interim CBO, Belmont is prohibited from:
1. Behaving in a manner either verbally or physically or incite others to behave in a manner that would cause alarm, harassment or distress to one or more person in the borough of Woking.
2. Entering the area defined and shaded in red on the map at any time except when in possession of a valid train ticket dated for that date and to enter and exit Woking railway station by using Station Approach, Woking.
Belmont will be offered support and referred to the appropriate services to help her with her issues but if she breaches any condition in her Interim CBO she can be arrested. The hearing for the full Criminal Behaviour Order will be held on 18 October 2017 at Staines Magistrates Court.
