Did you see dangerous mopeds?
Can you help? We’re looking for witnesses after a series of reports of anti-social riding and criminal damage caused by three mopeds in Epsom & West Ewell on Wednesday, 19 July.
We were made aware by the Metropolitan Police of four mopeds involved in a theft in Chessington at around 12.30pm. Shortly after, at 12.50pm we received our first call from a driver about three mopeds riding aggressively on Horton Lane. Officers were dispatched to the area however the riders had left the scene prior to our attendance. We then received six further reports from the public, including incidents on the M25, Bourne Hall and Trotter Way throughout the afternoon. The mopeds causing criminal damage or riding anti-socially. The last report in the borough was at 5.55pm on Ewell Bypass, and at this point there only appeared to be one bike.
Local Neighbourhood Officer, PC Tom Arthur, said:
“Despite numerous police being brought in to the borough to deal with these mopeds, the irregular locations of the calls made it hard to pinpoint the group.
“We are currently working with the Metropolitan Police to identify the mopeds and the riders and ask that anyone with photographs of either the group of mopeds or any incidents that they have been involved in, to come forward and contact us so we can gather evidence.”
The riders were described as five males on three mopeds, wearing face coverings and a mixture of black and white helmets and black jackets.
Anyone with information, video footage or photos of the suspects or their mopeds from Wednesday should call Surrey Police on 101 quoting reference 45170078326, or use the online reporting system https://report.police.uk/
