Surrey Police is currently in attendance at the Shell petrol station in Woodbridge Road, Guildford, following reports of a concern for safety.

Officers were called to the petrol station around 5.15am today (23 July), following reports that a man was threatening to harm himself. Police negotiators, as well as ambulance and fire crews, were also in attendance.

The man has subsequently been detained under the Mental Health Act. The road, which was closed in both directions, is due to be reopened shortly.
