Council through to finals in Association for Public Service Excellence Awards
We are finalists in:
- Best service team of the year - Street Cleansing and Streetscene service
- Best service team of the year - Waste Management and Recycling service
- Best Commercialisation and Entrepreneurship Initiative.
Cllr Paul Spooner, Leader of Guildford Borough Council, said: “The APSE awards recognise that we are implementing innovative ideas, and developing new ways to deliver local services - all while under increased financial pressures. I am proud that we have been selected as finalists in these prestigious national awards”
James Whiteman, Managing Director of Guildford Borough Council, added: “We are delighted to have made it to the finalist stage in three different categories. Our service teams work tirelessly to keep our borough clean and tidy, and we have recently increased our recycling rate again to almost 60%. The teams deserve this recognition for their continued hard work.”
The awards attracted over 310 submissions with over 100 organisations taking part from across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The award presentation takes place on Thursday 7 September.
