Detectives appeal for information on one year anniversary of Ricardo Hunter murder
Detectives investigating the murder of a 34-year-old man at a pool party in Headley are appealing for those believed to have vital information to come forward a year after his death.
Ricardo Hunter, also known as ‘forty’, was found dead in the garden of a property in Church Lane at around 2.30am on Monday 25 July 2016, following a private party at the address.
Mr Hunter was sadly declared dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination concluded the cause of death as a result of a gunshot wound.
Leading the investigation, DCI Mike Ashcroft said: “It’s now been a year since Ricardo was shot and killed and I am still appealing for information from his community as to who was involved in the planning and shooting.
“You know if you were at the party and haven’t come forward and it is to you I am making this appeal. We believe that some members of the community know who killed Ricardo, and we urge you to assist our investigation and help us get closure for the victim’s family.
“If you don’t want to speak directly to the police then you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously, however, if you do contact the police then we will support you.”
A reward of up to £10,000 for information that leads to a direct arrest and conviction of those responsible is still on offer.
Officers from Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team continue to carry out an extensive investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding his death and urge anybody who attended the party or with any information to come forward by calling 101 quoting, Operation Avondale or report online at https://www.surrey.police.uk/contact-us/report-online/.
Alternatively, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
