Residents of Mole Valley to be aware of Rogue Traders
Residents in Mole Valley are being advised to be alert to rogue traders in the borough following a report of suspicious activity.
Surrey Police is warning householders to be on their guard following an incident in which a vulnerable elderly couple was offered roofing services. The alleged roofers climbed into the victims’ loft and claimed the beams were rotting and wouldn’t support the roof. They then quoted extortionate prices and called daily requesting more money before finally taking the victim to the bank to withdraw the cash.
It is understood that the victim handed over as much as £20,000.
The suspects are thought to be driving a White Ford Transit van with the registration number YD05JOA.
The men involved are described as follows:
White, early 20s, slim and about 5 foot 10 to 6 foot tall, dressed in white or light clothing, with dark, thick hair, and the other, White, in his 30s, stocky build, shorter than the other male, with short black hair, unshaven, wearing colourful clothing and spoke with an Irish accent.
